Sorry folks life got in the way. Recently things have gone crazy and I think I'm going to get a lot more foot traffic to this blog soon. So in preparation here's some pictures of some of the stuff I've been working on recently...
And a little of video...
A Maori meeting house cuckoo clock. A little Tui pops out.
And a little of video...
Those are gorgeous. I need to to a post of the best of your stuff. I could spend weeks just getting drunk, eating food and watching you do your hobbies. Build me a clock and I will make great food for us.
ReplyDeleteI'll build you a clock but you'll have to come to NZ to collect it. We have terrific beer here and some of the best ingredients you'll ever cook with.
DeleteAhh Nick,
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing your interview on the radio last week, I only realised that you're the hilarious Nick Ward who makes with Ponoko when your latest posts popped in my RSS feed after a very long absense. Gold leaf on laser cutting is something I hadn't seen before, so [a vertual] high five to you (should your [virtual] palm accept).
The gold-leafing is pretty tough. It tends to get a bit messy. Instead of putting paint in the raster engraving (before you remove the protective covering which works like a stencil) you put the gold leaf fixer into the engraving. Leave it for an hour and then apply the gold leaf (smooth it down with a thick tissue). Leave it over night then remove the stencil. I still haven't perfected it but I'm getting there...
